Create OpenAI account
Visit platform.openai.com and sign up free (Google or email — 30 seconds).
Add $5 billing credit
Go to Settings → Billing → Add to credit balance. Minimum $5 USD required by OpenAI to activate the API.
Generate API key
Open API Keys → "Create new secret key" → copy it once (it starts with sk-…). Save it somewhere safe.
